Block ads with Opera

  • Français

Since Opera version 9, it is possible to block content of webpages using filters. This function is named Blocked Content since version 9, but it was available before.

I know this is also available under Firefox, using add-ons (adblock), but my old computer is very slow using Firefox, and forces me to use Opera. In fact, i’m very satisfied with this browser, browsing is very fast and rendering perfect. The only drawback is the lack of add-ons.

So, let’s not digress and talk about filters in Opera. You can create your own list of filters, but knowing that the file used to filter content is urlfilter.ini, a little google operation will give you some results. You will find a very well formatted urlfilter.ini file here on this page. This file is not only up-to-date, but you will be able to use a specific css file to hide ads.
