ZdMultilang version v1.2.0 is out

  • Français

As I mentioned this week, version 1.2.0 of ZdMultilang is out. This means a lot of modifications and it now takes in charge a greater number of elements. Here is a quick list of new features :

  • Blog name, blog description, links + description, link categories + description, category descriptions are now translatable.
  • Flag for the current  language won’t be displayed anymore in language selector and widget.
  • Import from Google directly from the post editor.
  • Draft status added for translations.
  • Support Wordpress 2.7
  • Corrected a bug with wordpress 2.5
  • Better system to create languages (more intuitive)

What’s next ?

Well, I do have to create a new documentation as nearly everything has changed.

Do a screencast on how to use the plugin.

    Hi Anthony,

the layout of your page looks a bit skewed in Google Chrome and FF3 (didn’t try others) — I hope it is not about your multilingual plugin!

However, I’ve tried to click icon to get an idea about your plugin and still can see the english content, Is this blog running the 1.2 version of your plugin or my assumption is wrong?

Can a reader select a several languages and filter the blog so that only articles in selected languages are shown?

    Thanks, regards

    Valery

    Bonjour,

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /homepages/31/d217045937/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/zdmultilang/zd_multilang.php on line 216

Valery, what do you mean be skewed ? I do surf in FF3 only and didn’t notice anything wrong.

Btw, no this blog is not using the 1.2.0 version as I want to test the autoupdate feature and it didn’t show up yet.

And, this very post as not been translated yet, so you should try another post if you want to see how it works ! :p

both “digg it” icon and the “submit” under it are not seen, there is a scrolbar right next to both these elements but it doesn help to see the submit for example. The whole this section is overlapped with ZdMultilan banner.

Let us know where could we look at live demo!

    kind regards
    Valery

    Yay !

    Merci encore !

Estrella, do you mean it disappeard totally or only from the widget (ie, do you still see it in the dashboard?).

If it disappeared from both the frontend and the dashboard, this means your language code is not the same as filename. Otherwise, this is just because I don’t display flags for current language.

Valery, this site is a live demo of zdmultilang. the digg this button has nothing to do with the plugin or the banner. This has to do with your screen resolution.

Btw, zdmultilang is not an automatic translation tool, this simply means that if I don’t translate an element it won’t be automatically translated…

Congratulations, is a great plugin, the best plugin for multilanguages on wordpress platform.

But, when I’m going to translate the original post/page isn’t displayed on top of current translation, is normal ?

    Regars.

  16. Posted 25 November 2008 at 11:47 | Permalink

daky, Yes this is normal, I removed this panel as it’s not really necessary, you can use the display original post link on the right sidebar. It was taking too much space in previous version.

    Salut,

my question is about themes. my site is based on a customized version of the wordpress default theme, and will offer content in two languages, french + english (i don’t understand french but the site author does).

i’d like to use a plugin like zdmultilang to translate to content (+ categories, links, rss feeds), but also to have all aspects of the blog interface switch with the language — i.e. have “2 comments” switch to “2 commentaires” etc

does zdmultlang “work with” wordpress’ theme localization feature?– i.e. can it “switch” from the french .mo version of wordpress default theme to the english .mo etc? if not, what is the recommended method for achieving a multilingual interface. xlanguage i believe has the ability to assign different themes for each language. is there a way to achieve this with zd & a php conditional somewhere?

might a similar technique be used to display sidebar widgets only in the appropriate language?

are there plans to set up a forum and/or wiki for zdmultilang users to help each other? even with tagging i think we all know wordpress.org has limitations that way… in any case, i’d be happy to set up/host such a thing if that sounds helpful.

    doug,

ZdMultilang is multilingual ready as wordpress defines it. I mean, if you have a french wordpress install, if you switch from english to french, so will your theme. Only if your theme is also multilingual ready. If you take a look at my blog (here), you will notice that when you look at the french version of the blog, everything will be translated into french. That’s the same principle for widgets, if they do have french translation, they will be displayed in french.

I will soon open a forum regarding my wordpress plugins here on Zen-Dreams.

  1. [...] [...]
