ZdMultilang, Appel a participation

One thing is to correct the permalink system, beacause sometimes this looks like http://www.site.com/en/fr/post_name
    with double language

Home page as a static page handling will be a much appreciated addition to this awesome plugin – nice work, hope you will keep it up.

It would be GREAT to have separate comments for each language.

Imagine I write a post in three languages: Spanish, French and English.

Then a Spanish leaves the first comment on my blog. Then 98% of the French and English people that enters to my blog to the respective French and English pages see the post in their desired language, but then, when they see the Spanish comment they both don’t understand a word, and they might decide to avoid commenting. Or they would comment but the comments will become a mess.

To keep the blog conversation fluid I think it would be better to display only the comments made in the language of the post at the time the comment was submitted. In the Spanish version of the post, show only the comments submitted from that page; in the French version of the post, show only the comments submitted from that French version of the post; and, for the English version, show only the comments in English, made from that English page.

Finally, thanks for such a great plugin :)

It would also be great if the plugin could work on other pages than the index.
I mean: it works on the index and posts. But when I’m on the 2nd page of posts in the original languag and I want to translae the page, then it doesn’t work anymore. :(

    ;)

    Dear Anthony,

The function « see translation at google translator » and supposed the other disabled function to import the translation from google, has a problem with the encoding used.

For example I am translating my site from Portuguese Brazilian to other languages. In this language we had this special caracters, like á, é, ô, ç and other.

But they are going to google in a miss way. Like « Última » seems « Ãºltima ».

With my little experience with PHP, its look for me like some problem envolving ISO-8859-1 and UTF8 encodings, but I am not sure.

This both features are very important and interesting for this plugin, so when you have sometime please give some attention to this.

    Thank you,

    Prakash

I could resolve this issue modifyng line 861 from zd_multilang.php

    from

    addslashes(htmlentities($OriginalText))

    to

    addslashes(htmlentities($OriginalText,ENT_COMPAT,’UTF-8′))

An good feature should be a counter that shows how much of the entire site/blog was translated, percentage, by each language.

    STATIC HOME PAGE FIX !!!!!!!

Ou au moins une petite indication de comment corriger ca temporairement.
Les quelques pistes évoquées dans les 5 ou 600 commentaires sont trop laconiques pour être reprises, c’est vraiment, vraiment, vraiment dommage.

    Hi,

I´m a big fan of your plugin, it´s easy to use, well constructed and simple. But I came across a minor bug:

I´m building a theme using the tags – it´s a artist portfolio, so the tags are related to the technique of the drawings. All works ok, even the tags translation, but when I´m on the archive.php page the zd_multilang_menu stops working. It only recognizes the default language and won´t change from portuguese to english.

If I manually change in the address bar the permalinks from br to en, it recognizes the language and offer portuguese. It´s like the plugin is stuck with br permalink.

I search the comments and googled it but I didn´t find any info on this. If you can help or assist me in any way I will be very grateful.

    Best Regards.
    Tiago Morena

Is your Archive.php page a template page ? Is it a page you published, if so, you will need to create a translated version of the page in order for it to be displayed.

      • Tiago Morena (Reply) on Lundi, décembre 14, 2009

        Hi Anthony,

The archive.php is a template file that generates a archive by tags or categories or dates. I’m building my theme on starkers.

The zd_multilang_menu works well on every other part of the site, but it’s frozen in the portuguese inside the tags archive: http://www.sambacine.com.br/amm

Thank you for all your help and assistance.

        Best Regards,
        Tiago

If you need it to be translated, then you will have to have a translation published for that page.

            Hi Antony,

I tried to translate the page, but since it´s a theme page (archive.php) I couldn´t find a way to do it. So I solved this way:

            <a href="/en/tag/ »>english

Now, when I´m at an archive generated page, in this case, tags archive page, the menu is loaded only in english (since it´s stuck in portuguese – the default language) and in portuguese I manually put the link to change to english.

It´s seem to work even with the ‘ã’ in the tag title. I will see if it´s cross-browser and cross-platform, and continue to research a better soluction.

Thank you for all the assistance,
            Best Regards,
            Tiago Morena

J’aimerais bien pouvoir faire une recherche en fonction dans la langue actuelle. Par exemple, si je suis en français, le texte recherché devrait être dans les pages en français et si je suis en anglais, le texte recherché devrait être dans les pages traduites en anglais seulement.

    Merci!
